As músicas da cerimônia de abertura das Olimpíadas de Londres, em julho, vazaram online, segundo dados do jornal Telegraph. O diretor britânico Danny Boyle (de Trainspotting) é um dos responsáveis pelo espetáculo e esteve envolvendo na escolha do repertório. O Comitê Olímpico não quis se pronunciar sobre o documento.

São 86 músicas, que privilegiam nomes da cena pop britânica recente e clássicos dos Beatles, Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Sex Pistols e New Order. Na lista, há ainda a rapper M.I.A., Blur, Coldplay, Dizzee Rascal e Radiohead. Bandas que fizeram parte do Jubileu da Rainha, como Eric Clapton e Elton John, foram deixados de fora.

As Spice Girls não foram chamadas e a Sporty Spice, Melanie C saiu reclamando na imprensa. Outra polêmica foi a inclusão de “God Save The Queen”, uma faixa antimonarquista, que causou barulho quando lançada em 1977. As Olimpíadas começam no dia 27 de julho e vão até dia 12 de agosto.
